Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music is classified as folk, alternative and rock but she also draws influences of jazz and hip-hop. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as a feminist icon and Grammy-winning artist is considered the pioneer in DIY music. It was one of the first musicians to start her own label in 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had made acquaintance while studying at in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
